75th Anniversary of Rajasthan High Court
The 75th anniversary of Rajasthan High Court was celebrated on 29 August 2024.
On this occasion, a platinum jubilee celebration was organized in the premises of the Rajasthan High Court located in Jodhpur.
The program was presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court D.Y. Chandrachud.
The Prime Minister was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebrations of Rajasthan High Court
Earlier on August 10, a program was organized by the Bar Council of Rajasthan at Marwar International Center in Jodhpur to mark the 75th anniversary of Rajasthan High Court, in which Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was the chief guest.
History of Rajasthan High Court –
After the independence of the country, on the basis of the recommendation of a committee of Shri BR Patel, Lieutenant Colonel TC Puri and Shri SP Singh, Jaipur was made the capital of the new Rajasthan state and the High Court was established in Jodhpur.
The High Court of Rajasthan was inaugurated in Jodhpur on 29 August 1949 by the Rajpramukh Maharaja Sawai Man Singh of Rajasthan.
Initially, the High Court also heard cases from Jaipur, Udaipur, Bikaner and Kota.
The benches of Bikaner, Kota and Udaipur were abolished from 22 May 1950, but the Jaipur Bench continued.
The Jaipur Bench was abolished in 1958 on the report of the committee of Shri P. Satyanarayan Rao, V. Vishwanathan and B.K. Gupta.
On 8 December 1976, a permanent bench of the High Court was again established in Jaipur.
At present, the approved strength of 50 judges in the Rajasthan High Court is 50.
The first Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court was Shri Kamal Kant Verma.
The current Chief Justice is Shri Manindra Mohan Shrivastava who is the 42nd Chief Justice.
