Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the revised Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (PKC-ERCP) at a program organized on the first anniversary of the Rajasthan government on 17 December at Dadiya village in Sanganer, Jaipur.
21 districts will benefit from the revised PKC-ERCP link project.
The Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) project will connect the waters of Chambal and its tributaries like Parvati, Kalisindh, Kuno, Banas, Banganga, Ruparel, Gambhiri and Mej.
This will also provide water to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor as well as other industrial areas.
Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) is a river-linking project.
In January 2024, the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) was renamed as PKC-ERCP i.e. Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project.
The aim of this project is to send the excess water of Parvati, Kalisindh and other rivers to the Chambal river.
It will supply drinking water, irrigation and industrial water to 21 districts of Rajasthan.
This will provide water to the districts of Jhalawar, Baran, Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Karauli, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Deeg, Dausa, Alwar, Khairthal-Tijara, Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Kotputli-Behror, Ajmer, Beawar, Kekri, Tonk and Dudu.
(NOTE- Dudu, Jaipur rural, Gangapur city and Kekri districts have been abolished. So now it will benefit 17 districts)
