Sports Person Pension Scheme has been implemented for sportspersons/para sportspersons/coaches. Under this, such players will be given a pension of Rs 20,000 per month on attaining the age of 40 years. The amount of allowance given to the players participating in national level and state level has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 and from Rs 300 to Rs 600 respectively per player. The amount of Maharana Pratap and Guru Vashisht awards has been increased from Rs 1 lakh each to Rs 5 lakh each. It has been announced to start the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. Under this, an amount of Rs 7.5 lakh has been proposed. The provision of allotting 25 bighas of agricultural land free of cost to Olympic medal winners has been extended to medal winners of Paralympic Games as well.
