Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme
Rail travel started from the year 2013 and air travel from the year 2016 was included.
This scheme comes under the Devsthan Department.
Scheme’s Objective – To facilitate the travel of senior citizens (persons of 60 years or more) of Rajasthan, a native of Rajasthan, to any one of the various specified pilgrimage places located in the country / outside the country once in their lifetime and to provide government facilities and assistance for grant for pilgrimage.
In the year 2024, 36000 beneficiaries will be sent on this journey. In this, 30000 will travel by rail and 6000 by air.
Under this, 15 thousand senior citizens will be sent on Ayodhya pilgrimage by rail this year.
15 thousand senior citizens will be sent by rail to various pilgrimage sites, Rameshwaram, Vaishnodevi- Jagannathpuri, Amritsar, Gangasagar, Tirupati, Kamakhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, Mathura-Ayodhya pilgrimage.
6 thousand senior citizens will be given air travel to Pashupatinath, Kathmandu (Nepal).
