Ram Jal Setu Link Project
Former name – PKC (ERCP) >> Parvati-Kalsindh-Chambal-East Rajasthan Canal Project.
On 22 January 2025, in accordance with the public sentiment of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the link project was named ‘Ram Jal Setu Link Project’ by combining ‘Ra’ from Rajasthan and ‘Ma’ from Madhya Pradesh.
MoA in this regard was signed between Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and the Central Government in December 2024.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Navnera Barrage built on Kalisindh at a cost of Rs 1 thousand 60 crore in the first phase of Ram Jal Setu Link Project at Dadiya village in Jaipur on 17 December 2024.
In the same program, the foundation stone of construction works has been laid at a cost of Rs 9 thousand 416 crore.
Under this, the excess water collected in the Chambal river and its tributaries in South Rajasthan will be taken to the areas of south-eastern Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
17 districts of Rajasthan and 13 districts of Madhya Pradesh will be benefited in this.
Districts of Rajasthan:
Beawar, Ajmer, Jaipur, Kotputli-Baharod, Khairthal-Tijara, Alwar, Deeg, Bharatpur, Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Bundi, Kota, Bara, Jhalawar.
Total length: 1268 km
5 barrages + 2 dams proposed:
1. Ramgarh Barrage – Kul River – Kishanganj, Bara.
2. Mahalpur Barrage – Parvati River – Mangrol, Bara.
3. Mej Barrage – Mej River – Indragarh, Bundi.
4. Navnera Barrage – Kalisindh – Digod, Kota.
5. Neemod Rathore Barrage – Banas River – Chauth ka Barwara, Sawai Madhopur.
6. Dungri Dam – Banas River – Sawai Madhopur.
7. Isarda Dam – Banas River – Sawai Madhopur.
Under this project, the state will receive a total of 4,102.6 MCM water.
This includes 522.80 MCM recycled water.
1,744 MCM water has been provided for drinking water, 205.75 MCM for industries, 1,159.38 MCM for irrigation in new areas, 615.43 MCM for restoration of irrigation in previously constructed dams.
About 44% of the water allocated in the project has been kept for drinking water.
The irrigated area proposed by the Rajasthan government was increased to 4 lakh 3 thousand hectares in the revised PKC project.
But now under the new agreement it will be 5.80 lakh hectares – (Rajasthan: 2.80 lakh and MP: 3 lakh).
