Bartan Bank
Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Madan Dilawar launched the Bartan(Utensil) Bank Yojana in the Mini Secretariat Auditorium, Collectorate Complex in Baran district.
The objective of this scheme is to promote environmental protection by limiting the use of plastic in rural areas.
Under this scheme, utensil sets can be obtained from the Gram Panchayats for marriage and other social events on rent for just three rupees.
In the first phase, 24 Gram Panchayats of Baran district will be included in this scheme.
In future, Bartan banks will be established in every Gram Panchayat of the district.
The state government has decided to give an amount of one lakh rupees to each selected Gram Panchayat for the smooth operation of the scheme.
This scheme will not only reduce the use of plastic, but will also strengthen environmental protection and cleanliness in the villages.
As per the guidelines issued by the state government, one set will include three bowls, one plate, one glass and one spoon.
A total of 400 sets will be kept in each Gram Panchayat. The name of the Gram Panchayat and ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ will be inscribed on each utensil.
Utensils can be replaced after five years, although utensils in good condition can be used further.
Special categories like BPL, Scheduled Caste, Tribe and Divyangjan can be given 50 percent discount in the rent of utensils.
The responsibility of maintaining the utensils will be handed over to self-help groups, while the operation will be done through Rajivika.
If any utensil breaks or gets lost, the user will be compensated for it.
